Politicians!! Ugh!!
With the recent elections done and over with, a lot of us are looking toward the future with hope. We hope that all the fighting between candidates and the general public was heard, and the people we elected will take the point to heart. We hope they will begin to represent the folks that elected them. It takes a “politician” to twist the concept of representing their constituents into voting with a party platform, doesn’t it? We hope we elected Representatives, not Politicians. Who really agrees with every plank of a party platform? Why, then, do our politicians always seem to vote with their party? Why do they ignore what we want, or need? Sure, nationally, there are issues that may need attention, but California is worlds away from Indiana, isn’t it? How can someone supposedly representing Indiana always vote with the people representing places like California, or New York? We don’t always want or need the same things, do we? We certainly don’t have the same priorities, the same morals, the same problems. What the people are saying is we want honest representatives to tell us the truth. We want people to represent our needs… to represent us, not a party. We want to keep Politicians out of our pockets, out of our lives, as much as possible. It is my sincere hope that our elected representatives learned a lesson with the recent election, and have plans to change the way they do business, from the local City Halls all the way to Washington. People are not necessarily fed up with Republicans, or Democrats. We are fed up with the way they do things. We resent being force-fed a party platform whenever one party has a majority, whichever party that happens to be. Think about it this way… Hoosiers got to vote on a property tax cap being added to our constitution this fall. Politicians all over the state were crying that such an amendment would tie their hands when they wanted to rob us the next time (uh, I mean “need to raise taxes to pay for baby formula or Education“….yeah that’s it). Gee Whiz, my pocket has been picked so many times, who could blame me for buttoning it shut? They need to ask us for our money, and be honest about how it gets spent and how they vote. Fair enough?
