All our lives are like a box of chocolates, aren't they? You could say "You never know what you're gonna get," and be, in part, right.
After all, human existence has a randomness to it, doesn't it?
No matter how hard you try, things that are not within your control effect things that are in your control, so sometimes the outcome is not what you had expected or hoped for.
The problem with this concept is the people in our lives who use this theory as an excuse not to properly plan, not to do their duty as a fellow human to act responsibly.
Don't we all know someone like that? While you work hard, ignoring pain and degradation to do whatever it takes to support your family, you always seem to notice others who do none of these things.
Funny thing is, they always have some excuse for why they can't work or pay or whatever, and that excuse usually contradicts at least one law of nature or physics.
I like to call these folks "soap opera people" since their excuses always seem to be as implausible, and sometimes as entertaining, as a soap opera plot.
These excuses only really work on people who have no concept of physics or mechanics or the topic at hand, so they have no reason to doubt the ridiculous story being offered.
The rest of us simply know they are lying. They are making excuses not to put in the effort the rest of us do.
In real life, we all need to take responsibility for our decisions. Life isn't a movie or a soap opera. Maybe we never know what we are gonna get, and all the planning in the world won't change that. But then again, I bet that a good work ethic, hard work, forethought and effort will be rewarded more often than not. Call it Karma, call it whatever you want.
If you plan right, you can pick the good chocolates out of the box most of the time. Just don't expect me to share mine when yours look like dung because they melted in the sun. Skip the story. We all know you were too lazy to move them. Fair enough?
