Suppose you were a ruler for a day. How would you run your country?

Ya know, Kings and Dictators are “Rulers”. Being “Ruler” for a day would imply more power than a President has, with no accountability, no bothersome oversight by Congress or Courts.  "Ruler Scotty" would have to power to, as the great John Lennon suggested, “Declare Peace”.   But that ain’t happenin’. 
     My Momma always taught me to be peaceful, to “turn the other cheek” and not lower myself to the level of violence.  I was born with a sizable temper, to be sure, and keeping my propensity for retaliatory violence in check has been a lifelong project.   As a kid, I would try my best to do as Momma had instructed.  I ignored insult, ignored intentional emotional pain inflicted on me.  Bullies would push and push, but I did my very best to ignore them.  Once other, weaker, bullies figured out I wasn’t pushing back, they joined the fray.  Pretty soon, I was a target for the weakest, wimpiest moron bullies you ever saw, since I wasn't fighting back.  Now, add the "jocks",or “I’m better than you” type bullies. 
     “Temper Temper Scotty, turn the other cheek, do the right thing” just didn't suffice sometimes.  I found that eventually all that pent up anger and resentment would surface, all at once.  If you were the unfortunately arrogant, pushy, or bullying person at that point, you were likely to receive the “Whole can of whoop butt”, right then and there.  You were the recipient of the severe beat down that several people had coming, whether your particular transgression at this moment had been  severe enough to deserve it  or not.  So sorry, such is the penance you must pay from time to time for being a Jerk.  Jerk.
     It is with this in mind that I would come to the crossroads as a Ruler.  Declare Peace?  If I did that, we would just be targets.  We would have to take the beatings from the less peaceful.  There are always groups that want war. Just like the kids of my youth, these groups are bullies, and even though they know we can beat the daylights out of them, they also assume we won’t fight back.  If I were Ruler for a day, our enemies better hope it is not the day I can’t tolerate any more bullies, or...here comes ”the whole can” ……
