Bucket list

A bucket list is an interesting concept.  Stuff you always wanted to do but never got around to doing, for one reason or another.  Forget about the impossible.  Can’t be an Astronaut and walk on the moon at this stage in my life.  Never could be a cowboy in the wild west.  So, what realistic things would I want to do before I die that I haven’t done yet?  Well…….

I always wanted to find the love of my life, marry her, and have kids.  Did that, over 27 years ago. Mark that one off the list.

I always wanted to finish college.  Went back and did that, at the age of 29.  Another one off the list.

Buy a house?  Did that in ’87.  Scratch that one too.

I always wanted to buy an old style Jeep, like they had in WW II.  The oldest jeep I have had was a ’63.  Close enough for me.  Scratch that one off in pencil (just in case a good deal comes along, ya know?)

I always wanted to have a model 1911 pistol, and a cowboy .45, and a Winchester model 94 rifle., and learn how to shoot ‘em.  Scratch that one off.  Several times.  Severaldozen times.

I never really wanted to jump out of an airplane, or climb the mountains, or see Paris. Sure, I would love to drive a Shelby Cobra, or some other silly stuff, but if I croak without doing that stuff, it won’t break my heart.

Naw, the old “bucket list” is pretty short for me.  No point in dreaming of doing or seeing stuff I will never see.   One thing though….

I always wanted to own a Harley Davidson chopper. An old Panhead, or maybe even a Knucklehead. OK…on this one I am close.  I have had a Harley for a few years now, but no chopper…yet.  The older I get though, the less likely this one seems, since choppers are hard to ride, especially for fat old men.   I can live with that
